Saturday, 20. April 2019, Ascot Hills Park, Abundant LA Plant Walk

Thank you for your interest in getting to know the flora of Southern California! This plant walk is a great oppotunity to get outside and get aquainted with the edible and medicinal plants growing wild in the hills surrounding Los Angeles.

On Saturday, April 20th, we will meet at 1pm at Ascot Hills Park in El Sereno. The address is 4371 Multnomah St, Los Angeles, CA 90032. We will meet in the gravel parking area just inside the entrance gate to the left. There is plenty of parking in this gravel area and in an additional parking area located further down the park entrace road. Please arrive before 1pm, as we will begin walking just after 1pm.

For this foraging walk, we will meet at the trailhead, hike for ~2 hours, and end back at the trailhead. Come prepared to hike on hilly terrain, with comfortable shoes, weather appropriate clothing (jackets, hats, sunscreen, etc.), and water. Your kids and pets are most welcome, granted they are able to hike for the two hours. The walk will happen rain or shine, so be prepared to hike in all conditions.

During this walk, we will be walking slowly and stopping often to identify plants growing along the trail. The walks will focus on identification and information sharing over heavy foraging, as the plants we come across may not be able to support harvesting from the entire group. That said, bring along a bag for respectful and modest foraging and know that you can always revisit the trails we traverse :)

The hike is $20 per forager (bring your kids and pets for free). Please register before the event so I know how many people to expect. Thanks!

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out at I can't wait to see you all in the wild!
