In this workshop participants will create their own design, and print it on fabric. A brief introduction to the history, tools, and techniques of relief printing (block printing), with emphasis on printing on fabric. Printmaking techniques allows you to produce multiples of the same design, yet each one is considered an original. With the block printing technique, also called relief printing, you can make patches, bandanas, flags, and even printed T-shirts.
We have materials and tools participants can use to create their design. Some fabric will be provided, yet participants are encouraged to bring others pieces of fabric and T-shirts to print on them.
In this workshop you will learn:
•The history, tools and techniques of printmaking, with emphasis in relief printing (block printing), and its cultural significance. It will be a brief introduction, so we can have more time for hands on project part.
•The cultural roots and origins of printmaking.
•You will make your own designs. •You will make your own prints to take home.
•No experience required.
•You will have fun, while awakening your creativity.
•Start using art to practice self-care.
•Use art as a vehicle to explore, connect to yourself, and create something.
