FAQ:
How accesible is the space?
SomaSpace is ADA accesible. The doorway does have a threshold slightly over an inch. 2 gender neutral, single stall ADA bathrooms. Non-private, gender neutral changing area. From front door to dance studio is wide open and hard wood floors, long hallway to bathroom and changing area carpeted. 4 stools available for use while dancing. Multiple lounging areas for taking breaks.  2 blocks from the Hollywood transit center, making bus transport easier. Driving may require parking 1-3 blocks away. I'm still learning about scents in this space, so please contact me with specific needs.
What if I have never danced before?
Join us anyway! Many other students also have had little or no dance before and find this class to be a safe and joyful place to connect with movement and community.
What if I have mobility limitations or pain that makes dance difficult?
I have a goal of making this a space that can support you in that. We've been learning together what are ways to adapt and make dance more accessible. There are stools which some students sit on and dance for part or all of the class. Breaks are built in and additional self directed breaks are supported. I encourage you to adapt movements, request adaptations, skip what doesn't feel right, and find movements that feel good to your body.
Do I have to be fat to join?
No! This space is created as a safe and joyful space for fat folks. We like to call it fat-centric. But folks of any size are welcome to join us.
What do I wear?
Whatever is comfortable to move in. Most people wear leggings, yoga pants or shorts with a T-shirt. For your feet there are many options: Barefoot, socks,  sneakers if they are dedicated to indoors, or any dance shoes. Don't feel like you need to run out and buy anything special for this class.
