Wednesday, 06. February 2019, Rutgers Law School, Room 80, CILPJ Citizenship Workshop: Martha Jones, "Birthright Citizens"

The Center for Immigration Law, Policy and Justice launches "Citizenship Matters," an initiative that highlights the importance of citizenship in the American legal, political, historical and cultural experience.
To kick off the initiative and in honor of Black History Month, we are pleased to host Professor Martha Jones (Johns Hopkins University) who will discuss her new book, "Birthright Citizens: A History of Race and Rights in Antebellum America." The book explores how "African American activists radically transformed the terms of citizenship for all Americans."
Professor Elise Boddie will offer brief remarks after Professor Jones's lecture.
