The goal of hosting training and events during National Fair Housing Month  is to help increase efforts to end housing discrimination, as well as to raise awareness of fair housing rights. Fair Housing Month is also a time to commemorate the April 4, 1968 assassination of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his contributions to the Civil Rights Movement.
The training will include break out session facilitated by individuals with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the areas of fair housing and civil rights.  Below is information about each.

Steve Tomkowiak - Approximately 28 years of experience specializing as a trial attorney in fair housing and mortgage lending discrimination cases under federal and state protected class attorneys, civil rights investigators, and private and public housing providers on fair housing and civil rights. Has spoken at various seminars nationwide, including HUD policy conferences. Approved as a fair housing trainer by the U.S. Department of Justice. Served for fourteen years as an instructor with HUD’s National Fair Housing Training Academy, drafting and revising courses and advanced courses on fair housing for public sector attorneys; fair housing for private sector attorneys; litigation of fair housing cases; lending discrimination and predatory lending; conciliation; and fair housing testing. Currently serves as Executive Director of the Fair Housing Center of Metropolitan Detroit.
Stella Adams- Ms. Adams is a nationally recognized expert in fair housing, predatory lending, mortgage fraud and investigation techniques.  Ms. Adams also served as the Senior Policy Advisor to the National Fair Housing Training Academy.  She is currently the Chief of Civil Rights for the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC).
Specialties: Fair Housing Investigations, Fair Lending Investigations, Fair Housing Policy, Fair Lending Policy, Mortgage Fraud Investigations, Analysis of Impediment studies, Foreclosure Prevention/Loss Mitigation, Civil Rights Education and Advocacy.

David Baade & C.J. Miles of the Continuum- Mr. Baade and Mr. Miles together have more than 50 years experience as Trainers/Facilitators and have provided equal opportunity and organizational development training for military, civilian, and international organizations at all levels. Mr. Baade and Mr. Miles have been members of the International Board of Certified Trainers, the National Association of Human Rights Workers, National Fair Housing Alliance, and the Florida Association of Community Relations Professionals.
Lunch Keynote Speaker:  
Leon W. Russell, Chairman, National Board of Directors NAACP - Mr. Russell has been a NAAcP board member for over 27 years. He served as President of the Florida State Conference of Branches of the NAACP from 1996-2000, after serving for fifteen years as the First Vice President. He is also the former  Director of the Office of Human Rights for Pinellas County Government, Clearwater, Florida from 1977-2012, where he was responsible for implementation of the county’s human rights and affirmative action ordinances.
