Sunday, 28. April 2019, Snoopy's Home Ice, Gabriel Salvador Benefit Hockey Game

Gabriel Salvador was born in Santa Barbara, CA and has been a member of Bay Area EMS for nearly a decade. Gabe attended Santa Barbara City Collage where he earned his EMT certificate. Soon after he moved to San Francisco in his early 20’s to pursue a career in EMS. Gabe started working as an EMT for a private Ambulance company in San Francisco before he went on to attend Paramedic School. In January of 2005 Gabe finished Paramedic School and got hired as a paramedic for King American Ambulance. During which time he was also a fire reserve for the San Francisco Fire Department.
He was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant for King American Ambulance and worked for the San Francisco Fire Department as a Paramedic. Gabe received the ‘Star of Life’ award from the California Ambulance Assassination in 2018 in recognition for all his hard work, not only as a field medic, but for the countless hours he has spent training new paramedics and interns.
Gabe is and has always been an outdoors man, growing up on the beach in Santa Barbara, playing volley ball in the sand, to spear fishing in ocean. He is incredibly passionate about health and fitness. In early 2018 Gabe was experiencing some abdominal pain and what he thought to be heartburn. These symptoms had carried on over a couple of months and like most Paramedics, firefighter, etc.. they tend to brush off going to the doctor. With some heavy persuasion from his wife Nikki, he agreed to go to the ER.
On February 5, 2018 Gabe and his family were dealt a devastating blow. Cancer. Gabe was diagnosed with Stage 4 Adenocarcinoma of the esophagus that spread to his liver and lymph nodes. Gabe is unable to continue working as a Paramedic during his grueling chemotherapy treatments. He has since had a set back in his recovery and has resumed a very intense chemotherapy schedule that leaves him increasing weaker and sicker with each round completed. With the love of his family and his wife by his side during these treatments Gabe is filled with determination to beat the “unbeatable” not only for himself, but for his two little boys. His son Ty and step-son Austin.
