Sunday, 31. March 2019, West County Herb Co, Inspired Birth, A Three Hour Intensive for Couples

In three hours, we’ll dive into the anatomy of a deeply connected birth experience; connection to your body, your partner, your baby and the magic of birth. This class is especially designed to support mothers and partners. You’ll practice the essentials for an inspired birth; guided relaxation, partner communication, breathing techniques, massage and touch. Couples will leave with a common language for birth, a language that is as much spoken as it is non-verbal. Both you and your partners will leave class understanding the science behind the hormones of labor and the physiology of contractions and the emotional terrain of both. You’ll practice positions for grounding and tools for cultivating affirming communication through every contraction. You’ll build a body memory of relaxation and massage, opening your pelvic floor and hips, and connecting to your body through breath work. All of this will allow couples to feel prepared and inspired for birth!

Teacher Bio:
Kelly is a mother, educator, crafter and community organizer.  When she’s not sitting on a birth ball with a model pelvis in her hand, she’s creating forums to raise awareness and expand access to birthing options in Sonoma County. Kelly has been teaching her popular Holistic Childbirth Prep Workshop for over eight years in the North Bay and Bay Area, and spent several years attending low risk and high risk births in San Francisco. Her background as a community organizer allows her a unique perspective on advocacy and body politics and she is a firm believer in body autonomy as a human right. As a Certified California  Naturalist, Kelly also brings knowledge of nature and the capability of our animal bodies to birth with confidence. She is passionate about creating forums for storytelling, as she believes storytelling and listening have the power to transform communities. Kelly has curated an on-going column about reproductive experiences in SQUAT Birth Journal and has been included in the anthology Birth Work As Care Work. She has worked with and founded organizations that are passionate and successful at creating radical spaces for reproductive justice and womb knowledge. She is happiest when she is with her daughter in the woods, crafting, and working with raptors at the Bird Rescue Center in Santa Rosa.
