Monday, 10. June 2019, Washington, Sacred Economy Gathering

We are inviting you to join us at this Sacred Economy gathering for fellowship, idea sharing, and more. Leaders at B Lab, Local First, Sojourners, Eastern University and Solidarity Capital have been exploring ideas around sacred economy for a while now, and we are looking to expand our network, perspective and impact. The purpose of this gathering can be summed up as:
Our Ask: help us accelerate our sacred economy initiative.
Benefit to You: Make a catalytic contribution and enjoy fellowship with like-minded leaders.
Overarching Result: We’ll leave with a concrete shared vision and plan roll out, including a larger public gathering in Grand Rapids in Fall 2019, that will catalyze the development of a Sacred Economy.

We live in troubling times, with a growing wealth gap, uneven access to opportunity and prosperity, and rapidly intensifying social and political polarization. Now more than ever, people of faith and goodwill must proactively envision, build and invest in opportunities that are inclusive of all people—especially those most oppressed or abandoned by our current economic system. Many faith and wisdom traditions offer robust theology and radical praxis around work, business, moral leadership, and shared prosperity, creating a framework for the “sacred economy”.
We believe that to accelerate the creation of a sacred economy for all persons we must create spaces that allow the human imagination to bring it into being. And that allow people, particularly business leaders, to translate the deeply ingrained faith and wisdom traditions that shape their personal lives into values that can transform their work, and our economy. We cannot create what we cannot see – we must help people imagine and help people translate efforts currently underway into what could be.
This gathering will bring together business and faith leaders who can help us identify existing resources and assist with developing tools to move these ideas forward. This event is scheduled so you may consider staying for Sojourner’s leadership Summit (), which begins on Wednesday, June 12th.
Please note: If your schedule precludes you from attending, we would be pleased to have one of your close colleagues attend in your stead. Please let us know who you would suggest we share this invitation with.
