Saturday, 30. March 2019, Pritzlaff Building, Saving Milwaukee's Historic Sites: A Discussion About Advocacy and How You Can Get Involved

Milwaukee Preservation Alliance is proud to host this two-hour event about historic preservation advocacy and how to get involved, which will appeal to those interested in historic preservation, history, architecture, real estate development, affordable housing, and neighborhood revitalization.
Our experience is that historic preservation captures people’s attention only after a neighborhood landmark is threatened and often when it’s too late to save it.  This workshop is intended as an introduction to help concerned citizens understand how to successfully advocate to save important places where they live.
Speakers:

Grant Stevens, Senior Manager of Community Outreach at the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Denver

Diane Tisue, Project Manager in Community Outreach at National Trust for Historic Preservation, Washington, D.C.

Frank Butterfield, Director, Springfield Office at Landmarks Illinois

Topics:

What is historic preservation advocacy and how is it done?

Examples of Advocacy Campaigns: Wins, Loses, and Lessons Learned

Discussion of Current MPA Advocacy Campaigns
