Saturday, 11. May 2019, Waterwise Community Center, Spring & Summer Edible Gardens - Planning & Planting for a Water Efficient & Delicious Harvest
After a cold, wet winter it’s time to put on your boots, sharpen the tools, buy a pair of gloves and get outside… or just slip on a pair of flip-flops and head to the backyard. Whatever your style, the spring vegetable garden is fun, rewarding and fast paced.
This class will introduce the best local vegetable choices and the best growing methods to harvest through summer.
Participants will gain an understanding of:
Planning and preparing for the Spring Garden for in-ground, raised beds, and container soils
Traditional and non-traditional ‘in the ground’ gardening methods
Seasonal vegetable varieties for seeds to starter plants, with information on sources
Environmentally friendly fertilizers, pest management, and weed control
