Saturday, 13. April 2019, The StudyPro, The Power of Meditation for Less Stress (at Home and School!)

The drive to get good grades, get into a great college and ramp up our resumes, makes teenagers the most stressed group of people in America*.

It's not surprising that we're all looking for something to balance us out.  There is a growing body of research showing that meditation is just that thing.  Meditation has been proven to help reduce stress and anxiety, improve attention and memory, and even promote self-regulation and empathy.   It has even been said that "Meditation is to brain what food is to stomach."

Whether you're a 'meditation-wanna-be' looking to get started or you're suspicious, but curious, if you could be missing out on a simple way to manage stress, join us for our free workshop:

"The Power of Meditation for Less Stress (at Home and School!)"
This workshop will feature Dr. William Stixrud, clinical neuropsychologist, author and founder of The Stixrud Group and Dr. James D. Grant, Director, Stress-Free Schools, who will cover:

Why it matters to meditate
How meditation fits into overall wellness (along with exercise, diet, and sleep)
What common objections are about meditation (and how to overcome them)
How Transcendental Meditation, a specific type of meditation, can be particularly helpful

Attendees will also learn and practice several breathing techniques that can be used both to reduce stress in the moment and to help improve sleep.
This workshop is for families and open to those 11 and older.  Students 15 and under must be accompanied by an *****.
