Sunday, 13. January 2019, Jamaica Jamaica Cuisine LLC, #TheWrapBrunch

Join us as we explore, demystify and gain a respectful understanding of the African-American woman esthetic: The Headwrap.
This event will be hosted by Naomi Sumthin2Say, who was featured for her unique headwraps in the Institute of Texan Cultures; and is also a local poet and small business owner.
Have you ever wondered "How do they wrap those things?" or "What is the personal and/or cultural significance behind these wraps?", etc.?
Bring your questions and come out to take part in a discussion about the personal experiences of African-American women and the reasons why the wear their headwraps.
The headwrap is a celebrated accessory in the community of African American women. Within the past decade more African-American women have embraced their roots by donning these headwraps in beautiful and eccentric fashions.
This event will feature a panel discussion delving into the African-American woman's experiences navigating through this society while celebrating her diverse culture, a headwrapping demonstration and a marketplace.
Though admission is free, we do ask that you RSVP to secure your seat!
Brunch will be available for purchase.
